SWIMMING SPOTS
There's nothing like taking a dip in the quiet bend of a mountain river to wash the world's worries away. Mount Beauty is surrounded by hidden swimming spots, tucked away on the east and west branches of the Kiewa River, and downstream where the two branches join north of The Pondage. The larger lakes are also great places to thrash out some laps or just float about and enjoy the mountain views.

It's a short 250m walk to Mount Beauty's Mermaid Beach – a shallow spot for children to swim on the Kiewa River East Branch. About 400m further along is the deeper Rockpool. This section of the river is accessed via Rock Pool Road. Park before crossing the river and follow the trail west.

The Pondage, Mount Beauty
The 3km Pondage Trail off Embankment Drive circles the lake and provides many places along the water's edge to jump in for a swim. The Pondage is large enough for kayaking and paddle boarding.
