Showcasing the West Kiewa, Pretty Valley and Mount Fainter, this expedition includes high plains, heritage huts, brumby country, wild rivers, stunning views and secluded camps, our renowned horses and campfire meals.
The horses are a feature of this expedition, each of them our own bred and trained mountain horse, expertly matched to the rider. Each day the camp is packed up, loaded onto the packhorses and the journey continues. Riding is between 15 to 25 kilometres per day with opportunities for loping canters across open plains.
Camps are selected for their beautiful settings, some in traditional stock camps featuring huts, but often secluded bush camps maintained by BHA. With swags rolled out dinner is prepared and enjoyed around a warming fire, with a cold beer, a local wine and a meal prepared from local fresh produce on the coals.
All expeditions include a night before and a night after at Spring Spur, where you can join the family for a meal and enjoy your comfortable en-suite room.

Travelling back in time leaving the 21st century behind as you ride into the belly of the clouds to the ‘mountain dreaming place’ the High country. Packhorses carrying all the camping equipment for comfortable camping. The packhorse load will surprise you with the ‘magic pudding’ quality, delicious camp fire meals served one after the other. Bogong Horseback Adventures are proud to combine both living an old world heritage with modern comforts and cuisine.
This expedition takes in Mount Fainter and Bogong Jacks Hideout. An iconic short Australian break. It is made easy for the casual weekend rider or the beginner rider, by camping two nights at Bogong Jacks Hideout camp. On Sunday you ride out over Mount Fainter and unload the lunch pack at Tawonga huts.
After your billy boils and the cake washed down with billy tea it is out into Pretty Valley for a few good canters, let the wind blow out the cob webs and stresses of your busy lives.
Tawonga Tourist Park is the perfect destination for nature lovers. Nestled in the base of the Alpine Shire mountains directly on the Kiewa River. Tawonga Tourist Park has powered and unpowered sites and newly upgraded cabins to suit all types of travellers.
During the winter travellers can enjoy easy access to the snowy mountains and during warmer months can enjoy the lush green trees and refreshing river!

Falls Creek Coach Service is Falls Creek’s very own local transport provider. They are based in Mount Beauty at the base of Falls Creek and service Albury, Melbourne and everywhere in between. They provide scheduled mountain bus shuttles daily and private transfer services to get you exploring Falls Creek with ease.

Guests have accommodation options to suit their needs, including one queen bed room; eight family retreat rooms (with a queen, single and a trundle bed), three retreat rooms (queen and single bed); one self contained suite (king bed and double bed sofa) and a three bedroom house immaculately detailed to sleep 12 guests. Surrounded by nature – close enough to all modern facilities. Take a stroll around the beautiful gardens, and enjoy the indoor/outdoor entertaining areas. Guests will long for nothing.

They’re here to keep it simple – showcasing awesome wines and creating a laid-back hangout for both locals and visitors. No frills, just good drinks, good vibes, and a great time. They’re also serving coffee from 2:30pm until closing and plating up amazing local produce to snack on.
