HOW TO GET TO MOUNT BEAUTY
However you arrive, the trip to get to Mount Beauty is a beautiful one. Whether you come by car, bus, train, plane, taxi or even a helicopter, we've pulled together a list of transport services to help you plan your trip.
BY CAR
FROM MELBOURNE
Coming from Melbourne, jump off the Hume Freeway at the C522 exit near Glenrowan. Mount Beauty is 112km from here. Follow the Snow Road to the end at Gapsted, turn right onto the Great Alpine Road and drive through Myrtleford. From here you can either take the C534 Happy Valley Road through to the Kiewa Valley Highway, or continue on the Great Alpine Road through Bright. If staying on the Great Alpine Road, exit at Germantown where you turn left onto the mountain pass of Tawonga Gap Road. This road passes two fantastic lookouts.
At the end, turn right onto the Kiewa Valley Highway into Tawonga South and Mount Beauty.
FROM SYDNEY
Mount Beauty and Tawonga South are an 85km drive from the M31 Hume Freeway at Wodonga, where you jump off at the B400 Bandiana Link Road exit. The B400 soon turns left onto the Murray Valley Highway. Follow this to the scenic C531 Kiewa Valley Highway, which will be on your right, and drive through the rolling countryside of Dederang and Tawonga on your way to Mount Beauty.
BY TRAIN
V/Line and XPT Regional Trains run daily train services from Melbourne and Sydney to Wangaratta Station and Albury Station. From here, you'll need to transfer to a bus service to complete your journey, or alternatively, hire a vehicle or catch a taxi.
BY PLANE
Albury Airport is 94km from Mount Beauty, or roughly a one hour and 10 minute drive. Qantas Airways and Regional Express operate flights from Sydney and Melbourne. From the airport, you can hire a vehicle to complete your journey or catch a taxi into town to meet a bus service. Private transfers can also be arranged.
BY BUS
V/Line run a bus service from Wangaratta Station to Mount Beauty every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Additionally, Falls Creek Coaches operate a daily bus from Albury/Wodonga.
During the snow season, Falls Creek Coaches run additional daily buses from Melbourne and Albury/Wodonga to Falls Creek via Mount Beauty.
PRIVATE TRANSFER
Mount Beauty Transfers can pick you up from the airport or train station and can also assist in dropping you off at locations for day hikes, bike rides or ski trips.
BY PRIVATE FLIGHT
Mount Beauty Airfield caters to private planes, helicopters and charter flights.

ROAD CLOSURES
Some roads, like the Bogong High Plains Road between Falls Creek and Omeo, close during the snow season. If travelling off the beaten track, check seasonal road closures on the VicTraffic website.
SNOW CHAINS
During the snow season it is a legal requirement that all vehicles entering the alpine area carry snow chains. Chains can be hired from Kiewa Valley Snowsports, Rocky Valley Bikes Snow Sports and Skiplus.
